Joyce Marie Hicks, 51 of Dallas, Texas formerly of Goodwin, died Thursday morning, January 19 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Dallas.

Joyce was born August 1, 1965 in Forrest City, Arkansas to McArthur Hicks and Brenda Bogard-Hicks. She was the eldest child of ten born to this union.

Joyce was a lifelong member of Goodwin Church of God in Christ in Goodwin, Arkansas, where she was a faithful member and grew up singing in the church choir.

Joyce received her formal education from the Palestine public school system. She would later move to Dallas, Texas to make a life for herself in 1982.

Joyce worked for many years as a server and a manager with IHOP Restaurants and Denny’s Restaurant in the Dallas area, until her health began to fail.

Her grandparents and her sister Margaret Hicks, preceded Joyce in death.

Survivors are: her son Corinthians Hicks of Dallas, TX; two daughters: Alice Jackson and Brendalynn Jackson-Douglas both of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren: Patience King, Chase King Jr., Jacey Cepeda, Charles Douglas III, Brenda Douglas and Amina Douglas all of Dallas, TX; her parents: McArthur Hicks and Brenda Bogard-Hicks of Goodwin, AR; her companion of many years Juan Villegas of Dallas, TX; six brothers: Marc Anthony Hicks of Dallas, TX; Steve (Danella) Hicks and Keith Hicks Sr. both of Little Rock, AR; Arthur (Joann) Hicks of Forrest City, AR: Telly Hicks of Dallas, TX and Tyrone Hicks of Goodwin, AR; four sisters: Agwenda Faye Hicks-Haggans, Natasha Hicks and Crystal Hicks-Walker all of Little Rock, AR; and Claudia Hicks of Dallas, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
